Omnet's BearBean service shows parents still photographs of their little ones, who are enrolled in day care centers. The images derived from video cameras in the classrooms are placed on a private web site where family members can view them (for up to two weeks in archive files) from work or home. The small cameras are located in child activity centers at the child's eye level. Parents can "peek" in on the center from the office or even from a hotel room while traveling on a business trip. Grandparents can also see what they might otherwise be missing, because the grandchild, who may be far away physically, is as close as the nearest web site. And the images can easily be e-mailed to other family members and friends. The private, password-protected web site can also be used by the day care center for its internet home page to post menus, special notices, or to welcome a new child and family. This is an efficient way to distribute information to day care families.
